I knew it was time for Emily to move to the basement when she kept everyone up blow drying her hair every night in the upstairs bathroom. She also has a drastically different idea of cleanliness than Jane. When she left for the summer of 2021 Jane begged and begged me to let her go downstairs so she didn't have to share a bathroom anymore and could keep it spotless like she likes. Jane even offered to take all of Emily's stuff downstairs. So for a couple of weeks before Emily came back from the summer Jane and I moved her room and gave her a big surprise. She was thrilled!
After a few months living in the greenish/gray room, Emily started asking about getting it painted. I told her to forget it because her dad was not going to paint yet another bedroom for her. Drawing from all the painting training she received in the Teasdale house and seeing an almost full can of left over paint from the living room remodel she decided to tackle it herself.
She enlisted her helpful younger sister and best friend Alix who has also done some painting. By the end of the day she had others there helping and it quickly came together.
Emily also had some design ideas that took a few more months and Christmas/birthday presents etc collect. The final thing hung was the lego set of the "starry night" by Van Gogh.
This room fits Emily perfect and has won the admiration of a few younger cousins that stayed in her room this summer while she was in Teasdale.
