Big Sur: Spring Break 2025. Day 2

Next to our hotel was the cutest town called Solvang.  It's considered the Denmark of California.  We grabbed some danishes at a bakery and walked around the shops.

Into the Van and up the coast we drove.  The teenagers were anxious to get some UV rays so we made our way to Morro Bay.   It was a little too windy for most of us so we dropped them off and headed for some claim chowder, fish and chips on the warf.   A nature museum had the most stunning views I've ever seen from a museum.

Pixma Beach had a great e bike rental shop.   They had a bike that fit everyone in our group.   We enjoyed the Bob Jones trail as well as riding around the Pier.

After we checked into our hotel in we hit the pool and hot tub.  While we were soaking we overheard other guests talk about how a rocket was about to be shot into space from Space X.   Soon after we all watched a rocket shoot into space.  It was pretty cool to be so close to the action.

Big Sur: Spring Break 2026 Day 1

The party "adventure" van roared to life again!!! Ally and her kids picked up Brooke, Bryler, my 3 kids and myself at the Burbank airport and headed North up the Coast.

We made a quick stop at the outlet mall near Ventura.  We then stopped in Santa Barbara for the afternoon.  First we rented a couple of 6 passenger beach surry's.   All the big kids wanted to go together and us sisters and littles took the other one. It was fun to watch them laugh together while they navigated who would steer, petal or occasionally push!

The beach and UV's were calling all of us and we soaked up the sun, relaxed and even napped a little while the kids explored.  Spencer and Roy found some dried up fish (probably someones lost bate).  Spencer named his Jeremy Jr. and took such good care of him until he cut off his head and buried him.

Everyone was starving and we came across a chicken place called "Jonesy's Chicken".   Yummy chicken strips, fries and mac and cheese bites for the win!!!!

The Marriot at Santa Ynez Valley did not dissapoint.  The kids loved the pool,  my sisters and I loved the hot tub and relaxing at the lobby/restaurant for the evening.
