If You Give Collette a Macbook

If you give Collette a Mac laptop (adaptation from the book If you Give a Mouse a Cookie)

If you give Collette a Mac she'll finally be able to upload pictures into iphoto.
Once she figures out iphoto she'll ask you to take her to a class on ilife.
While at the class she'll discover a whole new world of computer possibilities such as creating slide shows and movies.
Once she's created a movie of her own she'll ask you for a nicer camera to take even better pictures of her girls.
Once you've given her a nicer camera she'll then want an HD video camera.
Once you've given her a video camera she'll make an awesome movie in imovie.
Once she's created this movie she'll ask you for a new Flat Screen to play it on.
Once you've given her the Flat Screen she'll make lots of movies of her family.
Once she has lots of movies made she'll realize that her memory space in her MAC is full, which will remind her...
That she wants a bigger MAC computer.

So needless to say we called and got Emily an appointment at the Hair Salon.

Happy 1/2 Birthday to Jane

I can't believe Jane is 6 months old today! She's growing up so fast. I feel so blessed she is my little girl. She has such a cheerful disposition and loves to smile and laugh. Jane's big blue eyes make me melt and I find myself wondering is this beautiful baby really mine.

THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING

I often get a weird sort of (I don't believe you) look when I say Emily has only grown up not out. Well here is proof.

 I was changing Jane's diaper and got distracted, something that happens more often with two children, and forgot to put her pants back on.  A little while later I went to put Jane's pants back on and they were gone.   As I am tracing my steps wondering where in the world I put those pants  Emily appears in the kitchen saying "Ta Da" in a model pose.    There are Jane's 0-3 month pants on Emily's little bum. Needless to say, I think they look great on Emily as Bermuda shorts so now they are Emily's shorts.  (They were getting a little short for Jane anyway).    See for yourself,  Emily truly has only grown up and not out.   

Allyson's comment to this story was  "Already stealing her sisters clothes huh?" 

THE TWO LUCKIEST GIRLS

I think more of the world's problems would be solved if every little girl had a dad like Bart. He's a natural when it comes to being a dad. When we were dating I got a good sense that he would make a great dad and he has exceeded all up of my expectations. He is so nurturing and loving to his girls. Emily's favorite time of the day is when her dad reads her two books, sings her songs and cuddles with her before putting her to bed. Every night she gets the choice of who is going to "read to her" the code word for bedtime and she will only choose me if I bribe her with the option of reading lots and lots of books.

Bart is so great to get up in the night when his girls need him. I remember thanking him a while ago when he got up with Emily and Jane multiple times one night and he just responded by saying "It's a good way to get my cuddles in."

THE DILEMMA

Jane has recently started eating solids.    So far I haven't put anything in her mouth that she hasn't gobbled up like its the best thing ever.  This includes nasty looking pureed vegetables. 
 Emily decided that she wanted to help me feed Jane.   Like a good little mommy she ever so carefully scooped up the perfect portion of rice cereal on the spoon, patiently waited until Jane opened her mouth to give her the signal that she wanted more,  delicately placed the tiny spoon in Jane's mouth.  Jane took the food and mission accomplished.   Just as I was thinking how gentle and kind Emily is with her sister,  Emily scooped up a huge amount of rice cereal on the spoon and "Splat"  she flipped the spoon and flung cereal on Jane's head all the way down to her belly button.   Jane, thinking everything Emily does is fabulous, starts giggling deep belly laughs that only Emily can elicit from her.  Emily joins in and I froze with this dilemma, should I join in and laugh or send Emily to time out.

9- Raquel will get her wish to see more pictures of her two 'favorite' nieces

8-I won't be guilt stricken in my old age with all the memories that I didn't record for my children and lets face it, by the time I think to record it in my journal I've forgotten what it is I wanted to write down.

7-Maybe it will motivate me to take more pictures so that once again I won't be stricken with guilt in my old age

6-My friend Becky told me about things books you can make from your blog which sounds like a great way to preserve memories

5-Sometimes Emily will do the funniest things and I think, this would make a great blog post.

4-I'm feeling compelled to contribute to the blogging world. I started reading friends and family blogs after Jane was born. She was so fussy in the evenings and would not allow me to set her down so I started reading blogs on the internet because it is something you can do one handed. Thanks to all my blogging friends for the stress relief!

3-I finally took the plunge and bought myself my own computer. I was nervous that I was going to waste a bunch of money (the topic of how much is not discussed in my house) and not be able to run the programs right. I thought I was technologically retarded (TR) because I couldn't load pictures from my camera to Bart's computer. Turns out I'm not so (TR) but it was Bart's computer all along. I love my new Mac and iphoto!

2- Emily loves seeing pictures of herself on the internet. One more thing I can do to keep her brain stimulated. A constant challenge I face.

1- I'm so proud of Bart and my creation of The Sweetest "Bartlette" Pair (Emily and Jane) what better reason do I need.
