Capitalizing

Emily's two front teeth have been loose for a while now.  Whenever Bart mentions his desire to rip them out Emily runs away.  Well tonight while watching a movie Emily was wiggling her tooth until it was down to its last thread.  With a little bit of encouragement Emily pulled the first one out.    She then proceeded to tell us that Tyson from her class told her that if you give the tooth fairy 2 front teeth they are worth more.  Bart then said Yeah I've heard that if you give the tooth fairy you might only get 1 dollar but if you give her 2 you might get like 3 dollars.   Emily, who announced earlier in the week that she is saving her money up for an i phone with a cool case just like her 4th grade friend Jade has,  saw the potential of some fast money and was determined to get the 2nd tooth out.  She twisted and pulled and twisted some more while Bart watched patiently expecting Emily to ask for help.  She did ask Bart a couple of times to rip it out but as he reached for her tooth she changed her mind telling him she will do it herself.  After a good 30 minutes it finally popped out and she happily went to bed with 2 front teeth in a zip lock bag under her pillow for the tooth fairy.  

A little birdie told me that the tooth fairy liked her determination so much she decided to add extra to it and give her a $5.00 bill.   I can't wait to see her in the morning as she hops down the stairs like she just won the lottery.

Oh so proud

I don't know who is more proud Jane or her mama.  This girl can now ride a two wheeler bike!



 The most excited part is in a few weeks we will be heading south and now Jane can ride it to the  Koosharem Merc to buy a treat with the big girls (Emily and Bentley).  

Of things to come

Today I was wondering if  God gives us a taste of things to come or if he simply has a sense of humor.

For instance this morning I was cuddling with my Aaron rubbing his peach fuzz that is just starting to show and he looked up at me and all of the sudden he reminded me of one of my cabbage patch kids I had growing up.  His name was Oscar and I was the best little mom to him and remembered liking to rub his bald head, just like I do to Aarons.  I looked online and sure enough I was able to find one listed on ebay that is very similar to the one I had.







 I think way back when my doll Oscar prepared me to love bald headed  blue eyed boys and to take care of my own "living doll" Aaron.
On a side note this isn't the first time Aaron has shown resemblance of a fictional character.  Suzanne's husband Seth made this photo shop of Aaron as Charlie Brown.
 



Take this other example.  A few years ago when Emily was just about 2 I was talking to my mom on the phone I mentioned how hard is was for me to get any thing done because  Emily demands me to play kitchen with her all day long.

 Not more than a week later my mom calls me chuckling that she was cleaning out a few dresser drawers and found an essay I wrote when I was in fourth grade.  The assignment must have been about what we want to do when we grow up.  In my essay I talked about how when I grow up I want to be a mother and that when I am a mother I will play house all day with my kids.    *Moral of the story-- Be careful what you wish for it just might come true*

Can't stop me... or the door

To say the least Aaron is now mobile.    He is loving I mean LOVING his new found freedom from crawling.  With this freedom to roam around the house he has decided the best toys around are the door stoppers.     He will be line it straight to one and then spend some time flipping it.  After 30 or so seconds of flipping it he then grabs it and pulls with all of his might.  Sometimes it will pop right out and sometimes the stubborn thing gives him a run for his money but he sticks with it knowing if he pulls a little harder it will pop out.   Once he has it in his hand he raises it up high and flashes me his "I'm so proud of myself" smile and giggle.    It's too bad he has such a mean mom who snatches it up and takes away the victory.

Hawaii 5-0 Day 6

Bart and I were lucky to be able to wake up early attend a session at the Oahu temple while Matt and Ally watched our kids.   We came back and went on a walk with William while Matt and Ally slipped away and played some tennis.  Afterwards we all went out to eat at this fabulous place called Kuhuku Grill.  We then made our way back to Wahea Valley and hiked up through a Garden to a waterfall.  Amazingly the water was so warm so Bart and the girls jumped in for a swim. 

We couldn't leave the island without first checking to see if the turtles were out and lucky for us one was.  We took a few pictures and then the girls enjoyed one last swim in the ocean.

 

Goodbye Hawaii how lucky we were to visit you and enjoy so much time together as a family!!  I will always hold these memories close to my heart.

P.S.  I wouldn't change our family "trip" to Hawaii for anything but I am looking forward to the next time I "vacation" to a tropical place with only Bart and I.  It for sure will be a lot more relaxing without chasing 3 kids around

Hawaii 5-0 Day 5

At this point in our vacation the days start to smear together.   Joe and the boys wanted a beach with bigger waves so we made our way to sunset beach.  A local told us in the winter this beach can have 10-20 foot waves and it is where they have some world class surfing competitions.    For us in May the beach superb and the waves were a few feet high and breaking at the shore.  The kids had fun burying Bart and building a sand turtle.

Emily nicknamed Aaron Mr. Sandman because whenever he got the chance he happily ate the sand like it was candy

We then went to lunch. Came back to the condo and did some more swimming.  Bart and Aaron settled down for a nice nap while I and the girls along with Matt Ally and William rented some bikes and biked along the shore on a trail that took us to the coolest tree.

Later that night we had our last family dinner and said goodbye to everyone except Matt and Ally's family. 

Hawaii 5-0 Day 4

The family woke up early to make there way down to Pearl Harbor.  Bart and I had been there before so we stayed back and had a much needed R&R day.   My girls thought it was the best just being able to spend the whole day swimming at the pool and the beach. 

We may or may not have snuck into the Main Turtle Bay Resorts amazing pool.  And Bart may or may not have been surprised we lasted almost an hour before being questioned about if we were guests of the Hotel. 

Hawaii 5-0 Day 3

We started our day out at the beach where the turtles are known for coming ashore to bask in the sun.  Unfortunately the turtles weren't ashore but we enjoyed the sun and sand anyway.

We then spent the rest of the day at the Polynesian Culture Center.  I left the camera in the car so sorry no pictures but we made it to a few of the country's.   In Fiji they had all the May birthday's which included Bart stand and lead us in a dance using bamboo sticks.    The kids all got Tatoos at New Zealand.  Emily and Jane's represented a princess marking and Aaron became a warrior.     Around dinner time we were tuckered out and skipped the Luau (this wasn't the first time Bart and I had been there and we figured our picky eaters wouldn't eat enough to make it worth our time).    So we left the family and came back to the Condo and of course jumped in the pool.

Hawaii 5-0 Day 2

Originally Ally made an agenda that had us spending our 2nd day at the beach, but when the forecast showed rain we switched plans and took off for the pineapple factory and then down to Wikiki to hike Diamond Head.

Upon entering the Dole Pineapple Factory tour, Bart b-lined it to the ice cream counter to get himself a Dole whip.   Aaron, who has his dad's palate for ice cream was in love!! Bart's plan was to eat one while we looked around and then take another one for the road but the line was too long when we were ready to leave and at $5 for the small he passed up going back for seconds.

 We also enjoyed a train ride and watching a demonstration on how to cut up a pineapple.

Next we drove back down to the city and made our way to Diamond Head State Park.  We made our way up the hill and discovered an old time military look out.  The views at the top made the thousands of steps (or at least if felt like it to me) worth it!

Oh to be young again and take these steps on a dead run!

Later that night once we all came back to the Condo Raquel threw a b-day party for Dayson!  My girls were so proud of there new shades and Emily showed her mean skills for pin the tail on the donkey.
