Whole Self In....

Bart has always played the hokie pokie  dance with autographs.    Since we've been married I've seen him go back and forth with his passion.   As newlywed's it was his way of supporting the family and made his loot always on the chase especially with the successful UofU football team with Coach Myer. After college when he started his full time job  it became a once in a while hobby.  Other than Sundance he is very picky about who he would go and get.  He has even gone  a long time without the itch to get an autograph.  There were times when his buddy Cameron would call up about some celebrity that I thought was note worthy and Bart would just shrug it off.   I've also seen Bart get someone in his head and go through hell and hi water to get where he needs to be to get the autograph.     In general I would say that Bart can usually keep a toe, or leg in the business and take it out when needed.  Lately he has had way too much success and the hokie pokie dance is drawing his whole self in and its a killer to take his whole self out and come back to the reality of a mundane job.

Bart's most favorite birthday present I have given him the last few years is the freedom to go to Clint Eastwood's golf tournament each year over Memorial Day.   After making his trip plans they rescheduled the tournament but Bart decided this because his job is completely at home he could still go there over memorial day and stay the rest of the week and work all day and in the evening chase a few people that has been on his list for a while.

His friend Gary had an in through a friend who works at the airport to go into the special waiting area of the place Julia Andrews was waiting before her flight.  Gary sweet talked his way into her conversation, presented her with some sort of gift and she gladly signed  for them.  Bart almost couldn't believe this Queen in the celebrity business was so pleasant.

For years Bart's been longing for Harrison's Ford autograph on a few star wars pieces to finish off and his favorite Indiana Jones.  He's flown New York for him, planned a family vacation to Cody Wyoming for a celebrity baseball game that promptly got cancelled due to covid and over and over missed never ran into him in L.A.

Bart having extra time this trip waiting close to his house to follow him out.  One night as I was talking to him he said "I can just feel that something good is going to come out of this"  Sure enough he manifested it and he tracked him down.   Bart was ecstatic.

I'm not sure how Bart knew about "Kramer"  i.e. Michael Richards was at the particular church one day attending his daughters music recital but Bart scored a rare autograph with someone who is seldom in the public eye anymore.

Bart now having Michael Richards autograph was hot on the trail of  Jerry, Elaine's and Georges.  He got Jerry a few times at a place he goes for  sat morning brunch and got my kids to help get George's at some premier while we were in L.A.  Elaine came to sundance a while back but he needs her again to finish off a few others.  I'm sure Bart will make this happen somehow.

Bart went on an adventure with his buddy Ben to Washington D.C. for a concert/program to celebrate  John Williams turning 90.    Bart knew a  few actors in some of the movies he wrote the music to were going to attend and he wanting to kill many birds with one stone.    The security was so  tight at the concert hall that was impossible to get close to John Williams and the others.  Instead he drove up to New York City spent some time with an old paparazzi friend Larry.    Larry health is bad and had been in and out of the hospital for the last couple of years so Bart was grateful he took the opportunity to be with him.

Eastwood's tournament was rescheduled for mid August.  Bart and Gary set out of their usual adventure to Carmel and as the story goes caught a glimpse of Clint at hole 9 or so.   They then snuck onto the Private Golf Course and approached Eastwood.   Clint was gracious as ever and signed a ton of autographs for them including the gun Bart had brought as well as this hat.

Although Clint didn't have a problem with them the grounds security did and detained them in an office for a few hours and confiscated there paraphernalia.   Bart and Gary were not about to leave without their goods and went the rounds about being willing to spend the night in jail if they had to but in the end they made an agreement that they would give their stuff back if they promise to never lay foot on the golf course again.   They gladly left and said goodbye to their Carmel adventure forever.

The last few weeks Bart's been in turmoil when Gary told him he got Clint's son's number and they have been texting and now he has info that Clint will be attending Kyle Eastwood concert in Oakland Bart didn't know how he could go or not go knowing it was a sure chance to see Eastwood again.  He sheepishly brought it up and we talked a lot about when too much is too much.   He confided that he knows it's ridiculous but it really is fun for him to go on these adventures.   He also found out Jerry Seinfield was scheduled at an event and talked $ about needing him to finish a few pictures. I frankly told him when he goes without my blessing he seldom has luck and I really didn't want him to go it's far too soon and we as a family are knee deep in fall activities.     Bart said he could wait to go get Jerry in November but if he did both of these things now he could drive his work car that is going away saving us the mileage off of our vehicles.   I'm such a sucker for Bart and will always be and told him if it really makes you happy then go and enjoy it.
