August 13:

Jane's always wanted a slip n slide birthday party but being her birthday is in December she's always had to settle for some other idea. This seemed like the perfect year for Jane to celebrate her half birthday and make all of her dreams come true.

I came across a deal on the internet on this bounce house for half off their Saturday price if booked on a Tuesday with self installation and delivery. Jeff being the nicest guy ever came down with his truck and Bart showing his utmost love and devotion to Jane went with Jeff and set up this 400 lb beast! Not sure he will ever do it again but it sure was "The best day of my life" (quote from Jane after the parties were over).

Jane had a few friends over for a birthday party. I served up hamburgers, fries and chips they slid and slid and then opened presents and broke open a book worm pinata that Jane bought were her class money (point system) auction that was held at the end of the school year

After the party we had a steady stream of neighborhood kids over enjoying the slide. We then hosted the Richards clan for an end of summer BBQ. My kids love hanging with their cousins especially when water and food are involved.

Thanks for having us over. You are a master at planning birthday parties. Our kids slept so well after sliding down over and over again.

I really wish Millie wasn't screaming in that photo -- she had a great time. Thank you so much for inviting us! The boys were in heaven.

What is he doing? M: Leading the music. Spencer's just being Spencer (afterwards the couple in charge of the sacrament music came up and said Spencer is so adorable leading the music. Who taught him how because he was right on beat) (Nov 2021) S: (singing I am a Child of God and got to the part that says 'and so my needs are great). (Sept 2021) A: (feeling sad and anxious in sacrament meeting about his pending talk in primary). Mom could you have another baby so I can cuddle it. M: Sorry I'm too old to have more babies. A: Well then can't you adopt one? M: No our family is complete but you can always cuddle all the new cousins. A: (big sigh). OK but I just wish one was ours(Aug 2021) S: (after the tooth fairy came and doubled his reward for letting Bart pull out both lower teeth). Man if the next time the tooth fairy comes and I only get coins I'm for sure not letting dad pull anymore teeth. S: Well I really wanted to give you the pink flowers but dad said they are poisonous.

M: (Aaron wears the same couple of hoodies every day to school. Often Emily points it out to Aaron warning him not to be the kid who is always wearing the same hoodie. As Aaron came out for church one day wearing the same white shirt he's worn for the past 3 months I comment). Aaron why don't you wear another one of your church shirts. You have more in your closet?

E: Yeah Aaron do you want to be that kid always wearing the same thing?

A: I already am THAT kid(February 2021)

S: (trying to solve that there is only 3 airheads and 4 kids problem). I have an idea. Aaron you can give Emily a little bit of your arrow head and Jane you can give Emily a little bit of your arrow head. That's a good solution.

M: What about you can you share some of your airhead?

S: But I want all of mine (January 2021)

S: (Bart and I arrived home from a date). Mom your home. How was your wedding?

M: It was a date not a wedding Spencer

S: (after hearing that Bart and I are going on a date). But mom if you and dad are on a date there won't be any parents around for me to talk to all day (January 2021)

S: (wrapped up a gift me for all by himself, wrote M O M on it and handed it to me Christmas morning.)

S: Beamed with pride.

M: (opened it and saw an empty roll of tape).

M: (coughing after choking on some water in the car)

J: Oh mom you've got to stop coughing or people will think you have covid.

M: It's not like you can just make yourself not cough.

J: I can. I guess you are just not at the level yet mom.

E: It's true mom. You should see how everyone looks at someone when they start coughing in class (Dec 2020)

J: (coming down the stair the night after Zoey arrived and she saw that Zoey hadn't moved. She walked by me shaking her head). Mom what will the kids think?

M: Jane it had to be done or Spencer will never learn his lesson to not touch the elf. (Dec 2020)

S: (looking at his plate of unappetizing dinner). Mom you know how after I poop some of it is in my underwear and then my bum starts to itch.

M: Yeah

S: Well eating makes you poop so I'm not going to each anymore and then I won't poop and have an itchy bum.

M: And you will also starve to death

E: (Our Elf was discovered on the floor with Aaron as the culprit being the one who drug her around and left her in the middle of the floor. Emily was very distraught upon finding this Elf knowing that because she was touched she probably wouldn't be able to make it back to the North Pole). I just don't know what we are going to do about the Elf. It's not going to be able to go back to the North Pole again because it's in the middle of the floor and it will keep getting touched. (thinking) What can we do? I hate this but I think the only thing that can be done is to get rid of Aaron so the Elf won't be touched and can move again(Dec 2013)

J: (Emily found an old small stocking with her name on it so she put it next to her other one on the mantel. Jane noticed it a day or so later and said) Mom we have 2 Emily stockings and we need to take this one off. If people come over and see it they will think our family has 2 Emily's and that one of them is in college. (Dec 2013)

E: You know mom fast Sunday is just the same. It doesn't go any faster.
M: I know fast also means to go without food.
