A Long time ago in a land far far away....

I blame Max and then Ally for the loss of my peace. It started out a few Sunday's ago when Max excitedly announced that the annual Christmas day movie was to be the new Star War's movie. In the back of my mind I thought hmmm... maybe my kids should see the old ones before Christmas. Not too long later as if by fate, I get a text from Ally saying "I just downloaded the entire Star War's collection to Amazon so enjoy if anyone wants to watch it. One Saturday night we started Star War's New Hope and instantly Aaron was hooked. All the action packed scenes mesmerized him. He would lose his attention when the fighting stopped and he'd be off playing with his toys but as soon as he heard the "Darth Vader" music he was instantly sucked back in. I could tell he had no idea what was going on but he was fascinated with Darth Vader. He kept asking me "Is Darth Vader nice or bad".

Since then we've watched the original trilogy and Aaron has been all about Star Wars. "Lucky" for me with the new movie coming out there is an extraordinary amount of paraphernalia in every store we go to. Now I get to hear Aaron beg for anything and everything he sees. A few days ago we were walking through Kohl's and Aaron wanted the star wars bath towel, candle, life size storm trooper etc. It was suppose to be a quick in and out sort of trip to spend some Kohl's cash I had but instead I argued for like 10 minutes with Aaron about why I was NOT going to buy him a Yoga head that lights up. It really brought out my "Dark Side." I did break down at the grocery store and buy him an over priced box of "Star Wars" cereal. Each morning now he sits and 'reads' the back of the box while he eats his cereal.

Mary made Aaron's day when she invited us to a work Darth Vader vs. Santa Claus breakfast. Bart took the kids while I stayed home to wrap some Christmas presents. I heard that Aaron was a little hesitant around Darth Vader but with Bart he gave him a high five.

I think Emily and Jane were more fascinated with Mary's work. Emily kept talking about how they weren't on TV but they were where the people are that are on TV.

So is Darth Vader good or bad? I have never been able to get into star wars. That thing at KSL looked like fun!

M: You can always work on that starting with your room right now. E: Yeah no. I think I'd rather make my husband sign a waiver that if he is going to marry me he has to do all the cleaning. M: that's cool (thinking its the signs they teach them to help remember the words) B: (during the primary program songs Spencer in all of his glory was following along with the chorister, Bart leans over). What is he doing? M: Leading the music. Spencer's just being Spencer (afterwards the couple in charge of the sacrament music came up and said Spencer is so adorable leading the music. Who taught him how because he was right on beat) (Nov 2021) S: (singing I am a Child of God and got to the part that says 'and so my needs are great). And so my knees are grey (October 2021) E: Oh fork M: Emily your mouth. E: Mom I don't swear I utensil. (Sept 2021) A: (feeling sad and anxious in sacrament meeting about his pending talk in primary). Mom could you have another baby so I can cuddle it. M: Sorry I'm too old to have more babies. A: Well then can't you adopt one? M: No our family is complete but you can always cuddle all the new cousins. A: (big sigh). OK but I just wish one was ours(Aug 2021) S: (after the tooth fairy came and doubled his reward for letting Bart pull out both lower teeth). Man if the next time the tooth fairy comes and I only get coins I'm for sure not letting dad pull anymore teeth. Just not worth it for that (Aug 2021) G Dick: (after hearing G Becky read a facebook post from the farm Bureau about fasting/prayer for the drought). Well I'm going to start praying for wind because the more I pray for rain all I get it wind. Maybe if I pray for wind the rain will come. (May 2021) S: Mom how do you like the rainbow flowers I gave you for mother's day?

M: I love them they are the best

S: Well I really wanted to give you the pink flowers but dad said they are poisonous.

M: (in my head. Ha ha I bet Bart's poisonous means too expensive). (May 2021)

M: (Aaron wears the same couple of hoodies every day to school. Often Emily points it out to Aaron warning him not to be the kid who is always wearing the same hoodie. As Aaron came out for church one day wearing the same white shirt he's worn for the past 3 months I comment). Aaron why don't you wear another one of your church shirts. You have more in your closet?

E: Yeah Aaron do you want to be that kid always wearing the same thing?

A: I already am THAT kid(February 2021)

S: (trying to solve that there is only 3 airheads and 4 kids problem). I have an idea. Aaron you can give Emily a little bit of your arrow head and Jane you can give Emily a little bit of your arrow head. That's a good solution.

M: What about you can you share some of your airhead?

S: But I want all of mine (January 2021)

S: (Bart and I arrived home from a date). Mom your home. How was your wedding?

M: It was a date not a wedding Spencer

S: Oh well how was your date? (January 2021)

S: (after hearing that Bart and I are going on a date). But mom if you and dad are on a date there won't be any parents around for me to talk to all day (January 2021)

S: (wrapped up a gift me for all by himself, wrote M O M on it and handed it to me Christmas morning.)

M: Spencer how nice of you. Did you wrap this yourself

S: Beamed with pride.

M: (opened it and saw an empty roll of tape).

S: It's for you to take and put more tape on it (Dec 2020)

M: (coughing after choking on some water in the car)

J: Oh mom you've got to stop coughing or people will think you have covid.

M: It's not like you can just make yourself not cough.

J: I can. I guess you are just not at the level yet mom.

E: It's true mom. You should see how everyone looks at someone when they start coughing in class (Dec 2020)

J: (coming down the stair the night after Zoey arrived and she saw that Zoey hadn't moved. She walked by me shaking her head). Mom what will the kids think?

M: Jane it had to be done or Spencer will never learn his lesson to not touch the elf. (Dec 2020)

S: (looking at his plate of unappetizing dinner). Mom you know how after I poop some of it is in my underwear and then my bum starts to itch.

M: Yeah

S: Well eating makes you poop so I'm not going to each anymore and then I won't poop and have an itchy bum.

A: (After hearing me pray that he would have fun at school). You know mom I always have fun at school.

M: I know you do and you never get in trouble do you?

A: No not really maybe just once or twice.

M: Really what did you do?

G. Becky: Have you seen Spencer kick? I've never seen a 2 year old who can kick over his head. It's amazing. I hope I live long enough to watch him play professional soccer.

S: (crawling into my lap while I was watching TV in my recliner he has did this after he ran away from me after a shower and then came back a while later saying cold and then I wrapped in in his towel and he jumped up onto Bart's chest while he was laying on the couch) Awe cuddles (March 2018)

J: (at the beginning of potty training I told the kids that if Spencer does anything in the potty everyone gets a treat) Spencer? Do you need to go Pee Pee, Poo Poo, or Caca?

M: Caca? Where did you get that Jane?

I just don't know what we are going to do about the Elf. It's not going to be able to go back to the North Pole again because it's in the middle of the floor and it will keep getting touched. E: Today I want you to pick me up early so we are home in time to watch Curious George (I've been having to work a bit later on Tuesdays and she's been missing her show)

M: I'll try Emily but Tuesday's I am testing and sometimes it goes longer.

E: Well when it is time to go just get up and walk out the door and when your boss tells you to keep working just keep on walking to your car and come pick me up(Nov 2010)

M: (vacuuming while Emily was in the tub)

M: (starting to panic) Oh so you still have a bead up your nose OK just plug the side of your nose that the bead isn't in and blow really hard.

E: (Blowing as hard as she could and luckily out popped a black bead)

M: How long has that been up your nose?

M: What do you mean its really good

M: (when my girls were goofing around in the tub) Emily you two need to stop I don't want Jane to drown.

E: It's OK mom I won't let her drown, she's my best friend(Sept 2010)

E: When I was in heaven I told Heavenly Father I want a turn.

M: Oh yeah a turn for what?

D: Emily is time to start settling down and have some quiet time before bed

Allyson: (After seeing Jane's extreme stubbornness) I think Jane has a full vocabulary in her head but she knows you want her to talk so she is so stubborn she just isn't going to talk. (June 2010)

M: We should go buy Daddy a father's day tomorrow. I wonder what we should buy him? Do you have any ideas?

E: Yeah, we should go to all the stores in the world to find something like Market Square, Cosco, fresh market, market square. (June 2010)
