Projects are wonderful to distract the mind and keep the hours from seeming like days and the days from seeming like weeks.
Here are some of the projects my kids have been working on.
Emily's been wishing for a canopy over her bed since around 3rd grade. It comes and goes on her wishlist but she nor I have every found one we liked well enough to buy. Emily took the initiative this last week and found a pinterest diy tutorial and despite me being a negative Nancy about the whole idea she by herself made her vision a reality.
Aaron seeing me doing some cross stitching wanted to learn how to sew. I lacking patience said here is some needles, thread and some scrap cloth. Aaron started with a blanket and pillow for his teddy bear and ended making these 2 pillows. I can't believe how good he is with a needle, he threads it and knots it himself. He's such a calm collected kid when his hands are busy.
Jane's had a lego set in her room since Christmas with little time to put it together. She finally holed away in her room one afternoon and create her latest "clubhouse".

Isolation Gratification: Day 12
Today I'm grateful I have a couple of over attentive buddies to do things with like make banana bread together. My food loving Aaron's goal is to become a better cook. So glad we have lots more opportunities to cook together lately!

Today I'm grateful my case of paper more precious than gold came in the UPS truck and I don't have to brave the lines into the store at Costco.

Isolation Gratification: Day 10
It rained all afternoon so I didn't go on a"keeping my sanity" walks. Yet the sky blessed us with with a beautiful rainbow!
Genesis 9: 16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the beverlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.

Isolation Gratification: Day 9
Last week was long and weird. Friday night I lost it when all of the sudden I was feeling the weight of it all, all the time. Bart had been sick for a few days and was basically working (from home) eating and then sleeping. My kids and I were adjusting to all of us everyday all day long.
Bart being the ever loving husband apologized for his emotional absence while being sick and he hugged me and it melted the evil witch within me. This weekend I've been trying to look out more instead of getting wrapped up in my feelings and frustrations. I think it's really helped!
In my efforts to continue looking outward I want to document everyday that I'm in social isolation something small or big to be grateful for.
Today I am grateful for the chance we have to take the sacrament at home and study the gospel together as a family this sabbath day. The spirit was so strong as Bart passed us the sacrament, my girls each contributed a hymn on the piano and I gave a lesson I was inspired from the facebook "Come follow me daily." We talked about why Earthquakes are good for the Earth. Jane had recently studied Earthquakes in Science and had all sorts of great information about what happens in an Earthquake and what it does to the Earth. We then talked about why Earthquakes are harmful and how it can destroy buildings and such. My kids were so attentive as we compared it to our testimonies and how Heavenly Father sometimes gives us trials to shake up our ground so we can grow and change. He also needs our testimonies to be rock solid so when the Earthquakes of life hit so we can be strong and not fall apart. Aaron shared something about how we can feel the Holy Ghost in our lives and I saw his eyes well up in tears and I could tell he was feeling the spirit. How grateful I am to have experienced this in my home today!!
