Halloween Time

Spencer started celebrating Halloween when he found an old chicken costume that Emily wore one year. He drug this around putting it on and off for the entire month.

For the trunk or treat, Emily thought we should decorate as the ocean and then was gone all Sat afternoon working on a school project so Jane took the vision and made our trunk the reality.

Pauline invited us up for dinner and asked the kids to come dressed up. Sunday is a busy day for me and I was too exhausted to make Spencer a grandpa so I utilized his passion for the chicken costume.

Time for trick or treating.

Jane met up with the gang and ran around the neighborhood and then she and her friend ran around the other part of our wards neighborhood and then convinced me to take her over to her teacher's neighborhood. Her teacher was so happy to see her she gave her like 5 full size candy bars. The Bart came out in her and she kept going like the energizer bunny and ended up with 14 lbs of candy. Currently we are having discussions about possibly donating some of the candy.

Aaron met up with his gang of boys and scoured the neighborhood and then scoured the other 1/2 of the wards neighborhood. I didn't see his cute happy face all night but I'm assuming he had a blast.

Spencer and I set out together to pokey around the neighborhood while Bart handed out candy. He was overjoyed when we ran into his besties Joseph and Lucy and he happily ran around with them until he got cold and then suddenly he had enough candy and had enough trick or treating and just wanted to be home.

Emily hooked up with friends and was all over our neighborhood and then all over her friends Alix's neighborhood as the chipmunks and ducktails.

Halloween is now over but Spencer in denial as he has scoured our house for all black clothing and gloves to go with his newest pirate costume.

Man if stuffy wuffy feels like this I feel bad him (October 2023) A: (driving the boys to school the first day and we pull up next to their bus at a stop light) Look Spencer we have a Lady bus driver. S: Yes!!!!!!! M: Why would that matter? A: Because she's most likely nice. M: My meanest bus driver growing up was a woman. A: Girl Bus drivers can be mean but there is only 2 ways a woman bus driver can be. Guy bus drivers are like always mean (August 2023) S: Telling grandma becky that everytime he goes to the mall and shares his quarters with his siblings to get a gumball his gumball machine always gives him 2. I'm not feeling very good today and need to stay home. (Jane 2023) M: (driving home from Bart's parents house). OK guys when we get home we need to do Come Follow me. E: Really? Hazel: Yeah well my mom hates it so much that anytime we bring some home from school or someplace she immediately throws it in the garbage. S: Wow your mom must.... S: Wow he really never says anything. M: nope that's why I work with him. So what was the best part of your day. S: (he sat up and gave me a big hug and said ). Giving you a hug. You go with the flow and have a great sense of humor that makes you fun to be around. Your kids are going to love you. E: Maybe but my house with will be a mess. I don't like to clean. M: You can always work on that starting with your room right now. E: Yeah no. I think I'd rather make my husband sign a waiver that if he is going to marry me he has to do all the cleaning. (Nov 2021) E: (crying big huge tears that crush a momma heart after accidentally deleting all of her pictures she took with her cheap $20 mini camera she got as a birthday present) My pictures are gone. M: that's cool (thinking its the signs they teach them to help remember the words) B: (during the primary program songs Spencer in all of his glory was following along with the chorister, Bart leans over). What is he doing? M: Leading the music. Spencer's just being Spencer (afterwards the couple in charge of the sacrament music came up and said Spencer is so adorable leading the music. Who taught him how because he was right on beat) (Nov 2021) S: (singing I am a Child of God and got to the part that says 'and so my needs are great). And so my knees are grey (October 2021) E: Oh fork M: Emily your mouth. E: Mom I don't swear I utensil. (Sept 2021) A: (feeling sad and anxious in sacrament meeting about his pending talk in primary). Mom could you have another baby so I can cuddle it. M: Sorry I'm too old to have more babies. A: Well then can't you adopt one? M: No our family is complete but you can always cuddle all the new cousins. A: (big sigh). OK but I just wish one was ours(Aug 2021) S: (after the tooth fairy came and doubled his reward for letting Bart pull out both lower teeth). Man if the next time the tooth fairy comes and I only get coins I'm for sure not letting dad pull anymore teeth. Just not worth it for that (Aug 2021) G Dick: (after hearing G Becky read a facebook post from the farm Bureau about fasting/prayer for the drought). Well I'm going to start praying for wind because the more I pray for rain all I get it wind. Maybe if I pray for wind the rain will come. M: I love them they are the best

S: Well I really wanted to give you the pink flowers but dad said they are poisonous.

M: (in my head. Ha ha I bet Bart's poisonous means too expensive). (May 2021)

M: (Aaron wears the same couple of hoodies every day to school. Often Emily points it out to Aaron warning him not to be the kid who is always wearing the same hoodie. As Aaron came out for church one day wearing the same white shirt he's worn for the past 3 months I comment). Aaron why don't you wear another one of your church shirts. You have more in your closet?

E: Yeah Aaron do you want to be that kid always wearing the same thing?

A: I already am THAT kid(February 2021)

S: (trying to solve that there is only 3 airheads and 4 kids problem). I have an idea. Aaron you can give Emily a little bit of your arrow head and Jane you can give Emily a little bit of your arrow head. That's a good solution.

M: What about you can you share some of your airhead?

S: But I want all of mine (January 2021)

S: (Bart and I arrived home from a date). Mom your home. How was your wedding?

M: It was a date not a wedding Spencer

S: Oh well how was your date? (January 2021)

S: (after hearing that Bart and I are going on a date). But mom if you and dad are on a date there won't be any parents around for me to talk to all day (January 2021)

S: (wrapped up a gift me for all by himself, wrote M O M on it and handed it to me Christmas morning.)

M: Spencer how nice of you. Did you wrap this yourself

S: Beamed with pride.

M: (opened it and saw an empty roll of tape).

S: It's for you to take and put more tape on it (Dec 2020)

M: (coughing after choking on some water in the car)

J: Oh mom you've got to stop coughing or people will think you have covid.

M: It's not like you can just make yourself not cough.

J: I can. I guess you are just not at the level yet mom.

E: It's true mom. You should see how everyone looks at someone when they start coughing in class (Dec 2020)

J: (coming down the stair the night after Zoey arrived and she saw that Zoey hadn't moved. She walked by me shaking her head). Mom what will the kids think?

M: Jane it had to be done or Spencer will never learn his lesson to not touch the elf. (Dec 2020)

S: (looking at his plate of unappetizing dinner). Mom you know how after I poop some of it is in my underwear and then my bum starts to itch.

M: Yeah

S: Well eating makes you poop so I'm not going to each anymore and then I won't poop and have an itchy bum.

M: And you will also starve to death

G. Becky: Have you seen Spencer kick? I've never seen a 2 year old who can kick over his head. It's amazing. I hope I live long enough to watch him play professional soccer.

E: (Our Elf was discovered on the floor with Aaron as the culprit being the one who drug her around and left her in the middle of the floor. Emily was very distraught upon finding this Elf knowing that because she was touched she probably wouldn't be able to make it back to the North Pole). I just don't know what we are going to do about the Elf. It's not going to be able to go back to the North Pole again because it's in the middle of the floor and it will keep getting touched. (thinking) What can we do? I hate this but I think the only thing that can be done is to get rid of Aaron so the Elf won't be touched and can move again(Dec 2013)

J: (Emily found an old small stocking with her name on it so she put it next to her other one on the mantel. Jane noticed it a day or so later and said) Mom we have 2 Emily stockings and we need to take this one off.
