Fixer Upper Richards Edition: Renovation

Once the house was stripped it was time to put it all back together.   John and Pauline graciously came down for a weekend painting party.   It was fun to watch the pros at work.   Pauline patiently taught my kids the expert ways and worked tirelessly along side them all weekend.  I'm sure it was time that will never be forgotten by my kids.

What a God Send it was that the roofers came right before the torrential rains started and didn't stop.   There was a couple slight leaks but overall we were spared a lot of leaky damage!

Fixer Upper Richards Edition: more demo and prep

After Christmas Break we left the house to Brent Hurley to get it ready for paint/electrical and plumbing

The beautiful weeping willow tree needed some serious pruning.  Thanks to Chap our family lumberjack it got a nice haircut.

It saved us a lot of money to strip the shakes off the roof but man was it a lot of work.  I wish I would have taken a picture of one of the heroes of the show John Richards who came to the rescue when we were pooped.

You see this guy on the left.   He is the 1 hero of this show.    He will never ask anyone for help and he worked from sun up to sun down without a single complaint!   He's an amazing example of hard work to his kids and such a help meet to me!!!

Fixer Upper Richards Edition: Demo Days

Bart and I officially bought the most beautiful property in the world.  Ok  I might be a little bit bias but just a little bit because it really is a  stunning, wonderful, peaceful place  that I've loved all my life.

My mom often talks about saving for an opportunity.   We've been considering a few different investments including owning a couple of other different properties in Teasdale that came up on the or may be for sale but both of them fizzled out.    So some money just sat there for a few months.   Everything we thought about just didn't seem right until this opportunity opened up for us to buy my parents house, which I never thought would be a possibility.  How grateful I am all the other investments fell through and we had the savings in place for this glorious opportunity.

So starting Thanksgiving weekend with Bart leading the troops to begin some demo and the walls started coming down.    My kids loved pounding and ripping away

A few weeks later the tile and carpet came up.  This was by far the most tedious  back breaking work of the project.   Aaron was made for manual labor.   He figures things out so quick and thoroughly enjoyed working right beside he dad learning some tricks of the trade.   Spencer also enjoyed a little chipping and ripping.   The girls and I did not enjoy clean up duty of taking loads out to the horse trailer but  I'm grateful for my work horse kids.  We also really appreciate all the help Branson did with the demo as well as Baxter hauling and unloading the trailer.

Jane after working tirelessly on the tile disposal team came home and saw all the tile in our house and said "I hope I'm long gone before you decide to dig up this tile"
