Word up it's...

Word Girl and her side kick Captain Huggy Face!

Once again Emily came up with the idea for Halloween costumes. She would be Word Girl and Jane being such a great sister obliged to be the side kick Captain Huggy Face. So I looked on line and sure enough the only Word Girl costume for sale came in a size 2 Toddler. Good thing I have an amazing mother in law who can create just about anything. In fact her creation is 10 times better than the one I saw on line. See for yourself looks like the real thing huh?


















Our celebration started on Friday when Emily's school had a costume parade and class party. Jane and I got to help out at the party and had a blast getting to know Emily's class better.



Later that night we had a ward trunk or treat. Here we are all dressed up. I'm a witch, Em's is word girl, Jane is captain huggy face and Bart is the amazing dad just coming from work who never complains about working long hours or driving through horrible construction each day.


This morning Jane and I went on a few errands and boy was Jane excited as we entered Sam's club and the greeter told Jane to pick a piece of candy. Since then everywhere we went Jane hollered Happy Halloween to total strangers as she skipped along so full of life. While trick or treating at Foothill Village, a local strip mall, Jane got so excited every time someone gave her a sucker or she saw a costume of Minnie Mouse or "tangled." She doesn't seem to mind at all being the side kick but I kind of feel bad she didn't get to fully embrace her love of tangled or Minnie Mouse by dressing up as one of them. I guess there is always next year.

End of the season

Emily had her last soccer game today until next Spring. I'm so glad Emily was able to play soccer and make so many new friendships that have carried over into school. I was hoping to get a team picture but as soon as the game ended it started to rain a little bit so everyone scattered. So until next Spring here are a couple of pictures.

Beautiful October

The weather has made this October so pleasant. This past UEA my girls and got some much needed fresh air and R&R in Teasdale. We watched the guys load up the cows after driving them off the mountain and then played around in the trees with my mom at the most beautiful spot of farm land called the Bingo. I learned this weekend it got it's name because my great grandpa would walk to it from Torrey and while walking he would sing the song Bingo. We also hung out in the park with my sisters and the cousins, visited my grandparents (it melted my heart to see Jane go right up to Gramps and sit and hold his hand for a while) and of course we took a ride on the 4 wheeler.

Frightmares with the family

Allyson came into town for Matt's brothers wedding so it was the perfect time for my family to all get together at Lagoon. As tradition holds we got an old western picture with my dad and all of us girls. I think these two goofy pictures are priceless!


The rest of the day was spent going through spook alleys, riding the rides and watching the thrill seekers of the family Brooke, Sarah, Raquel, Joe, Bart and Baxter go on the Skycoaster and Catapult. As mentioned before I am done with those kind of rides, although it was sure fun watching the others try it. I am more than satisfied watching my girls in kiddie land and giggling with Jane on her favorite ride "Lady Bug Bop"

I'm so glad my family took the time to all be together and have a fun and memorial day!!

The Right Perspective

Last month we bought a new Honda Pilot. I'll have to say that although it seems nice to have a new car I think it is way more stressful than it's worth. I've been parking in no mans land so it doesn't get dinged and have all these restrictions like no food or gum to try and keep it from looking like I don't have a couple of kids 5 years and under. So the other night when I didn't pull in far enough in the garage and the garage door came down and scratched the bumper I almost started to cry. I fretted over telling Bart or just letting him find it on his own. I decided to call and tell him to just get it over with. I don't know why I was so worried, Bart simply said "Oh well what can we do about it now?" Since Bart is in the auto collision industry and notices all sort of things on cars as we drive by, I still fretted about if he would get mad. While he was assessing the damage I said "How much is this going to cost us? Bart's response was "Why would we fix this, scratches and dings are bound to happen." I love that about Bart. He isn't super particular or gets angry about little things like that. The irony of the situation is earlier that day I made Bart his favorite peach pie and boy was it the best day to do it!!

Emily came home with her first art project. I'm sure it won't take long until my fridge will be covered.

Good times for Labor Day

Our annual tradition of camping with my family brought us back to Elk Horn on top of Thousand Lake Mountain this year. The weather was superb, the food great, and the company fun as ever. My girls enjoyed every minute with their cousins. Nothing is more satisfying as watching 4 girls and their cousin Dillan play so nicely together. My "cowboy" Bart saddled up and rode away with the guys coming back saddle sore and a little bruised by being brushed off the horse by a tree (Bart claims he is too tall for riding horses through a forest). My girls and I set off to fish only to discover Em's fishing pole was broken. Oh well neither of us really wanted to touch worms or fish anyway.
