Fall is such a gorgeous time in the Salt Lake Valley and my boys with all their activities helped us all enjoy spending a great deal of time outside.
Aaron
He decided to play flag football instead of tackle this year so he would have more time for comp basketball. He had mixed emotions about his decision because many of his teammates were new too football and it was frustrating to him that they struggled with the plays or even being able to catch a football. He loved being the main quarter back and enjoyed playing with his friend Cole and having Cole's dad Danny as his coach.
He also spent tons of time with his buddies. Cole lives next to Sunset Ponds and wet lands. The boys usually spend time fishing in the ponds but this fall they built a fort in the bushes. Aaron begged me to go to Cal Ranch for some string and they built and built for days and begged me to go back for more. I was happy to keep these pre teens busy creating a masterpiece. He also went to a couple Alta High football games with the crew and enjoyed painting up.
Aaron is often Bart's autograph buddy. He spent an entire day at the airport with Bart during comic con and never once complained although I think he is learning the art of airport sleeping to pass the time. While they were at the airport Bart got word that Karl Malone was doing a community service event up in Park City to celebrate Fire fighters. Bart wasn't sure if it was worth the drive to get more Karl Malones but Aaron really wanted to get his Jazz hat that Stockton had signed autographed by Karl Malone. Karl who recognizes Bart was a little cold to him until Bart said "You know Karl I'm here because my son really wants you to sign this hat." Karl then turned his attention to Aaron and chatted up a storm with Bart about how family is what really matters. Aaron also got to go to a Jazz game with Bart after Ben, Bart's autograph friend, only purchased a ticket to get access to a traveling team, and happily gave it to Aaron
Spencer
Played both Soccer and Flag Football. He says soccer is his favorite sport but my little guy might be small but he was mighty in football. He took protecting whoever had the ball seriously and always stayed with his teammate warding off opponents so lots of kids got touchdowns. Not to mentione he had his share of goals! It didn't matter how far away the other person on the team was when he got the ball Spencer darted for him fast as lightning and almost always ripped off the flag. Sometimes I'd grimace and he "almost" tackled the kid thinking he was going to get a reprimand but I realized that football people aren't afraid of some contact it is football after all.
Spencer started "Let's play music" with a teacher I found closer to home! He and 4 boys each week learned fun songs and always got great prizes from his teacher. For the recital all 4 boys each played a part on the piano with the song "Don't put your trash in my backyard." Spencer also played "Clementine" as his solo. Clara is also taking "Let's Play music" and the 2 of them had fun on Grandma Becky's piano making "Sleepy Creepy Night" into a duet.
Spencer after envying all the fun things Aaron was doing with scouts, joined a troop of his own. His leaders are so relaxed and the boys are so nice and love having Spencer around. They took a couple of hikes during the fall one to clean up Dimple Dell Park and the other to explore nature.
My boys were Bart's right hand yard men filling up all our garbage cans with endless amounts of leaves. Good thing they both enjoy jumping in the pile. Aaron especially likes it when he helps Papa and he lets him use the power tools. Makes hard work a little sweeter. The three of them also spent quality time working on their pine wood derby cars and enjoyed the race night.
